Smells fresh and green, spicy and strong. This is how olive oil from Chianti Classico should taste.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Fattoria di Rignana
The Olio Extra Vergine d’Oliva: a cold-pressed treat
The Fattoria e Villa di Rignana is located in Panzano in Chianti, not far from Greve in Chianti, almost exactly in the middle between Florence and Siena. Here, on an area of about 14 hectares are cultivated traditional and excellent wines. And on an area of about 5.5 hectares grow more than 1,000 olive trees of the varieties Frantoio, Moraiolo and Correggiolo. Of course these areas are also organically cultivated, just like the vineyards. The olives are harvested by hand and meticulous attention is paid to rapid and gentle processing of the harvested olives. Cold pressing and natural filtration produce this high-quality virgin olive oil - Olio Extra Vergine d’Oliva. Fresh and green in fragrance, spicy, but not too strong in taste - pure Tuscany!
Fattoria e Villa di Rignana: a winery with history
The Fattoria e Villa di Rignana is located in the heart of Chianti, just a few kilometres from the centre of the small village of Panzano, on the edge of the golden valley. The idyllically situated property can be reached via a gravel road that leads through the rolling hills and vineyards. Wine lovers and those who want to become wine lovers will be spoiled with different types of wine: with a fruity Chianti Classico, 85% made from Sangiovese grapes and 15% from Canaiolo grapes. With an expressive Chianti Classico Riserva - a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. With an elegant Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, made from the finest Sangiovese grapes of the Fattoria di Rignana. And the super tuscan "Il Riccio", a 100% Merlot, completes the range of red wines. The fruity fresh Rosato and the fragrant white wine Bianco, made of 100 % Sangiovese accompanies the wine assortment in Rignana. And not to forget the olio extra vergine d’olivo, which is an integral part of every meal in Tuscany!
The organic wine region around Panzano in Chianti
Here in the Chianti Classico wine region, between Florence and Siena, wines grow with a lot of character, great depth and very accented typicity. Like most of the winegrowers in Panzano in Chianti, Cosimo Gericke, the owner of Rignana, cultivates the vineyards exclusively organically and sustainably. Chemical fertilizers and sprays have not been used on its 14 hectares of cultivated land for years, and since 2014 the Fattoria e Villa di Rignana has also been officially certified as an organic estate. That results in magnificent vines and a literally flourishing fauna and flora, and of course in excellent wines in consequence. The native varieties Sangiovese and Canaiolo as well as the international grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc grow and thrive at an altitude of 350 to 500 metres above sea level. The soils are stony, calcareous and clayey, the perfect conditions for high-quality organic wines from the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation.
