Dinner's Ready: Pappa al Pomodoro is Served!
The best thing about Pappa al Pomodoro is this: this typical Tuscan dish, which everyone cooks a little differently, is incredibly easy to make, but tastes absolutely sensational! Depending on the season and your preference, Pappa al Pomodoro can be served cold, lukewarm, or hot.
Insalata di Farro – The Wholesome Salad
Whatever your fridge has to offer can go into an Insalata di Farro. It's a perfect summer meal. Seriously, anything you have in the fridge can go into Insalata di Farro. It's a perfect summer meal that's also wonderful to prepare for guests, it's healthy, and you can make it vegetarian or vegan if you want. Buon appetito!
Green, green, green is all I love – Verdure fritte!
What might seem pretty basic at first glance actually turns into a real flavor explosion when you look closer or take a bite. You'll generally find fried foods quite often on Tuscan menus. The summer versions include zucchini or pumpkin blossoms, or even sage leaves.
On the menu today: Panzanella
If you've ever been to Chianti in the summer, you probably know Panzanella: it's that yummy bread salad that's just perfect for a fresh lunch on those super hot days.
True Tuscan Kitchen Classics: Mixed Cold Cuts with Bruschetta and Crostini
You'll often find bruschette and crostini served with 'affettati misti' – that's a mix of different prosciuttos and salamis. They also love to add some cheese and sometimes pickled veggies to the side.
#LebensfreudeChiantiClassico: Pane Toscano
Starting now, with my new blog series under the hashtag #LebensfreudeChiantiClassico, I want to bring a little bit of that Tuscan-Italian 'godimento della vita' (enjoyment of life) right into your home, through recipes from the 'Cucina Toscana' (Tuscan kitchen).
Back to Panzano!
The time has come – my #ChiantiClassicoLonging is over! Because right now, as I'm writing these lines, I'm sitting in my favorite spot in Panzano in Chianti, feet up on the little stone wall, laptop on my lap. The vineyards are glowing a lush green, my coffee is competing with the lavender in scent, and the bees are buzzing busily.

The past weeks and months have been tough for all of us. While we're slowly getting used to the new normal, the longing for faraway places is still strong. The last few months were full of restrictions – travel wasn't possible, borders were closed, and staying home was the name of the game.
#SehnsuchtChiantiClassico: A video meeting with Emilia and Giovanni d’Orsi from Fattoria Casaloste
These days, a glimmer of hope is emerging as Corona measures are slowly being eased in Austria, Germany, and Italy. There's even a chance that the border between Austria and Italy will open this summer!
#LongingForChiantiClassico: A Video Wine Tasting with Cosimo Gericke from Fattoria Rignana
While Austria and Germany are slowly easing their strict Corona restrictions, reopening restaurants, museums, tourist spots, and even borders, Italy is still taking a more cautious approach to relaxing its measures.
#SehnsuchtChiantiClassico: A virtual visit with the Davaz family at the Poggio al Sole winery

#LongingForChiantiClassico: A Chat with Marco Ricasoli Firidolfi from Rocca di Montegrossi
The Corona pandemic is still keeping the world on edge. Especially in Italy, the virus has left its tragic mark – affecting both people and the economy. And things are only slowly starting to look a bit better. Meanwhile, as part of my blog series #LongingForChiantiClassico, I've been trying to update you on how my friends at the wineries on NinainChianti.com are doing.
