I'm Nina in Chianti and a Chianti Classico expert. Who I am
I am Nina Tiefner, married, at home in Salzburg, in love with Chianti Classico. My greatest passion is this wine region in Tuscany - with everything that goes with it: cuisine, landscape, people, atmosphere, wine. When I talk about it, my eyes light up. At least that's what the people who meet me say. I love cooking, enjoying myself and spending time with friends.
Chatting is my core competence - I like to say that about myself with a wink - especially when it comes to Chianti Classico. And when I'm not baking bread, sitting at the opera or stroking my cat Bianco, you'll probably find me among the olive trees in Panzano or in a fisherman's hut in the Lofoten Islands - with a glass of wine in my hand.
I am convinced that you don't need much to be happy. A good conversation. A good wine, fresh bread and the best olive oil. Or a moment when everything just fits.

Why wines are pictures for me
For me, it's the wine that counts - but not the blah blah blah.
What counts for me is enjoyment - but not phrases like "goes well with dark meat".
I am convinced that wine is best understood when it is told in a lively way - with images, stories and enthusiasm, rather than complicated words and technical jargon.
That's why I prefer to describe wines figuratively: for me, an elegant Chianti Classico is sometimes like a lady in a big hat and long dress. In the style of the fin de siècle. Appearance with attitude. An image that stays in your head.
I don't see myself as a classic wine merchant - but as a translator. I make the language of Chianti Classico understandable: the soils, the climate, the grape variety - and above all the attitude of the people behind it.
Because in the end, it is their decisions, their vision, their passion that shape a wine. And that's exactly what I want to make tangible.
Why you can trust me
I don't have a certificate on the wall - but over 20 years of experience.
I know over 100 wineries in Chianti Classico, have been working closely with 16 selected winemakers for more than ten years - and know every detail of what they do.
My range in the store comprises over 600 products - many of them in different vintages and formats. I don't sell anything that I wouldn't like to drink myself.
I get messages from winemakers who say: "Since you've been talking about us, new guests have been coming to us."
And I get emails from customers who write about how quickly, reliably and lovingly everything has arrived - not just the wine, but: a piece of memory.

How a vacation changed my life
As a child, I helped with the harvest at my parents' small vineyard in the Weinviertel, north of Vienna - chatting with my grandmother in the rows of vines, tasting golden yellow grapes, breathing in the scent of freshly pressed juice.
And yet it was clear: professionally? Never with wine.
Until 1998, a vacation in Tuscany that I didn't really feel like going on. And then: Chianti Classico. A region that showed me what wine can be - joie de vivre, culture, depth. Without frills, without commerce.
A few years later came this moment:
A wine merchant in Salzburg was looking for a successor. A friend jokingly says: "Why don't you start a wine shop - with your wine stock!" I look at my husband - and we both know: That's exactly it.
Today I know: I have arrived. Not just in the wine trade, but in Chianti Classico. And I love passing on my enthusiasm.
