Back to Panzano!
The time has come – my #ChiantiClassicoLonging is over! Because right now, as I'm writing these lines, I'm sitting in my favorite spot in Panzano in Chianti, feet up on the little stone wall, laptop on my lap. The vineyards are glowing a lush green, my coffee is competing with the lavender in scent, and the bees are buzzing busily.
#SehnsuchtChiantiClassico: A video meeting with Emilia and Giovanni d’Orsi from Fattoria Casaloste
These days, a glimmer of hope is emerging as Corona measures are slowly being eased in Austria, Germany, and Italy. There's even a chance that the border between Austria and Italy will open this summer!
#LongingForChiantiClassico: A Video Wine Tasting with Cosimo Gericke from Fattoria Rignana
While Austria and Germany are slowly easing their strict Corona restrictions, reopening restaurants, museums, tourist spots, and even borders, Italy is still taking a more cautious approach to relaxing its measures.
#LongingForChiantiClassico: my virtual aperitif with Vicky Schmitt-Vitali from Le Fonti winery
Today is part two of my new blog series #LongingForChiantiClassico, where, over the next few days and weeks, I'll be looking into how people are doing in my beloved Chianti during these tough times. This time, Vicky Schmitt-Vitali tells us about the current situation at her winery, Fattoria Le Fonti, how her husband Guido and the kids are doing, how the family will celebrate Easter, and what thoughts are with them.
#LongingForChiantiClassico: A Chat with Alessia Riccieri from Antico Podere Gagliole Winery
My new blog series - As you probably know, I keep something like my "Wine and Chianti Diary" here on my blog. It's about Chianti Classico wines I've tasted, places I've visited, but most importantly, about the people I've met. This includes winemakers, winery staff, and restaurateurs.
Panzano Arte: a path with sculptures by Nathalie Decoster through the vineyards of Panzano
As we all know, summer is the time for life's beautiful things! And what could be better than combining art with enjoying some wine? That's exactly why, until September 18, 2019, sculptures by the famous French artist Nathalie Decoster are being presented for the first time in and around Panzano in Chianti, under the title Panzano Arte.
That was Vino al Vino 2018: Dream Weather & Dream Wines!
It was already the 24th Vino al Vino event, which took place from September 13-16, 2018, on the Piazza in Panzano in Chianti. And of course, I was right there in the thick of it for all four days, live and present, meeting lots of friends and even some customers – which made me especially happy.
Il Palagio in their heart and Sangiovese in their blood
At Azienda Agricola Il Palagio in Panzano in Chianti, Monia Piccini and her husband Franco make amazing red wines in one of the best spots of the shell-shaped Conca d'Oro, and recently, their Rosato Aldemara too. They also produce a fantastic extra virgin olive oil.
New at Nina in Chianti: The Tenuta degli Dei winery by Tommaso Cavalli!
I'm always on the lookout for new wineries and exciting wines from Chianti Classico. For a while now, I've occasionally heard about, read about, and even tasted a sip or two of Tommaso Cavalli's wines...
Viva la Repubblica
Grande Dario, the ambassador of meat, whose motto "Beef or not to Beef" is shared with the world. And he's also just declared the Repubblica Gastronomica di Panzano (Gastronomic Republic of Panzano). It's a gastronomic republic where the residents have wine in their veins and definitely aren't vegetarians, where the joy of life is contagious and turns short-term tasters into true connoisseurs...
