Five Questions for Cosimo Gericke

In the heart of Chianti, just a few minutes' drive from the center of Panzano in Chianti, you'll find Cosimo Gericke's Fattoria di Rignana. It's a winery with traditional red wines from the region, plus a Rosato and a single-varietal Merlot. But it's also a lovely spot to relax, unwind, and celebrate! 

The wines at Rignana are made exclusively from their own grapes, and they've been organically certified since the 2014 harvest. You'll mostly find Sangiovese, Tuscany's main grape, but they also use other local and international varieties like Canaiolo, Merlot, and recently, Cabernet Franc. On top of that, they also produce an excellent Extra Virgin olive oil here.

Nina: Hey Cosimo, what's your star sign?
Cosimo: Capricorn.

Nina: What do you get up to when you're not busy with Rignana? Cosimo: I enjoy hunting, and I travel a lot, mostly for hunting. Plus, I love classical music. An evening after a long day, a glass of wine before dinner, and some classical music – that's what makes me happy.

Nina: What do you think is important for a good wine?

Nina: Which wine do you think best reflects your personality?
Cosimo: I think Chianti Classico suits me well – I'm not into big shows, but I love the zest for life that Chianti Classico embodies.
