New year, new wines…! This year, the wines from Rocca di Montegrossi are the first ones from Marco Ricasoli Firidolfi's winery in Monti in Chianti to make their way to my warehouse and, of course, into the shop. In other words: all wines from the new delivery can be ordered right away!And here's the best part: the current delivery includes the 2013 vintage of the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto di San Marcellino, which comes from the single vineyard of the same name. Marco Firidolfi, owner of the Rocca di Montegrossi winery, is super excited about this vintage: “2013 San Marcellino is in my opinion one of the three best San Marcellino ever produced, if not the greatest.” Well, if that's not a clear recommendation to drink it – and I can only wholeheartedly agree with that recommendation!
The Super Tuscan Geremia features international grape varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. As the 2014 Chianti Classico already showed, this vintage was a challenge – but one that ultimately paid off big time. And the newly delivered 2014 Geremia vintage proves it too. Marco Firidolfi sums it up perfectly: „Although 2014 was a high-pressure, challenging vintage, we achieved excellent results”.Good news for all sweet wine lovers: the current vintage of Rocca di Montegrossi's Vin Santo is also included in the delivery, and it's considered one of the best in the Chianti Classico wine region. A very complex production process, spanning several years, creates this unique drop. All in all, Marco says „It’s such an amazing wine!” – and I couldn't agree more!
Since the production quantity was higher in 2008, Marco Firidolfi decided to slightly lower the price for this sweet treasure.By the way: this year, the fresh 2017 Rosato from Rocca di Montegrossi also comes in a fresh 'outfit' – meaning a new bottle. Of course, what's inside the bottle always counts most – and this one truly tastes amazing, already building anticipation for long, mild summer evenings. Or, as Marco puts it: „I am sure that the quality of 2017 vintage won’t let anyone down!”The foundation of Rocca di Montegrossi's range – like everywhere in and around Panzano and throughout Tuscany – is the Chianti Classico – with the 2016 vintage newly included in this delivery.
