Ein echter Supertuscan mit adeligen Wurzeln
Der Geremia Toscana Rosso IGT ist ein echter Supertuscan in der Familie der Montegrossi-Weine. Und Familie ist im Zusammenhang mit diesem Wein besonders wichtig: Denn Geremia war der Begründer des Adelsgeschlechts Ricasoli, aus dem auch der Inhaber von Rocca di Montegrossi, Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi, stammt. Gekeltert wird dieser spezielle Tropfen ausschließlich aus internationalen Rebsorten: Er besteht meist zu zwei Dritteln aus Merlot und zu einem Drittel aus Cabernet Sauvignon – je nach Jahrgang in einem etwas anderen Verhältnis. Und damit liefert Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi den eindeutigen Beweis, dass sich im Herzen des Chianti Classico – immerhin in der ältesten Weinbauregion der Welt – auch fremde Sorten sehr wohl fühlen und Weine höchster Qualität entstehen lassen. Natürlich immer mit dem Augenmerk darauf, das spezielle Terroir von Monti in Chianti zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Nach der sorgfältigen manuellen Ernte gelangen die Trauben für rund zwanzig Tage bei einer kontrollierten Temperatur von ca. 26 Grad zur Fermentation in Stahl- und Zementtanks. Darauf folgen 28 Monate Reife in neuen und gebrauchten Barriques und Tonneaux aus Allier-Eiche und zumindest 18 Monate Flaschenreife. Was dann nach dem Öffnen einer Flasche auf Nase und Gaumen trifft, ist ein intensiver, dunkelbeeriger, würziger, mineralischer Wein mit Bordeaux-Struktur und Toskana-Aroma. Rund 15.000 Flaschen pro Jahr werden von diesem Supertuscan abgefüllt – unter anderem auch im Magnum- und neu im Doppelmagnum-Format. Ein Muss für alle Liebhaber italienischer Rotweine!
Zwischen Florenz und Siena: Ein Weingut mit Geschichte
Monti in Chianti zählt sicherlich zu den ganz besonderen Orten für den Weinbau im Chianti Classico, der Apellation zwischen Florenz und Siena inmitten der Toskana. Man findet hier zahlreiche Hinweise für eine jahrtausendalte Geschichte und noch heute zahlreiche renommierte Weingüter in der unmittelbaren Umgebung. Dazu zählt auch das biologisch zertifizierte Weingut Rocca di Montegrossi. Und auch hinter diesem Weingut steckt eine große Geschichte: Der Inhaber des Weinguts, Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi, ist ein Spross des Adelsgeschlechts Ricasoli, jener Familie also, die das „Rezept“ für den Chianti Classico erfunden hat und so die Geschichte des Weinbaus in der Toskana maßgeblich geprägt hat. Noch heute hat die Familie ihren Sitz im Castello di Brolio in Gaiole in Chianti – in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft zu Rocca di Montegrossi. Schon allein durch diese Tatsache ist Marco mit seinem Land, dem Weingut Rocca di Montegrossi, sehr eng verbunden.
Monti in Chianti: Der beste Ort für Rotwein in der Toskana
Die enge Verbundenheit zwischen Marco und seinen insgesamt 100 Hektar Land zeigt sich mustergültig am Namen des Super-Tuscans im Sortiment: Geremia – so der Name des Weins – war der erste der Familie Ricasoli, der sich im Chianti niedergelassen hat. 20 Hektar werden auf Rocca di Montegrossi als Rebflächen genutzt. Die Anbauflächen von Rocca di Montegrossi, allesamt in sanft-hügeliger, süd-südöstlicher Lage, befinden in einer Höhe zwischen 340 und 510 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel. Auf einer Fläche von 13 Hektar wird Sangiovese angebaut – die Leitsorte des Chianti Classico. Aber auch die autochthonen Rebsorten Canaiolo, Colorino, Pugnitello und Malvasia Bianco di Toscana sind hier zu finden. Die internationalen Rebsorten Merlot und Cabernet Sauvignon nehmen nur einen kleinen Anteil der Rebflächen ein. Seit dem Jahr 2010 ist das Weingut offiziell als Bio-Betrieb zertifiziert. Und auch sonst ist Nachhaltigkeit ein großes Thema: Regenwasser wird als Brauchwassser verwendet und über Solarpaneele wird Strom für den Eigenbedarf erzeugt.
Ein buntes Wein-Sortiment: Von Rubinrot über Bernstein bis Flamingo-Rosa
Die Hauptrolle im Sortiment von Rocca di Montegrossi spielt sicher der Chianti Classico. Der Vigneto San Marcellino Chianti Classico Gran Selezione bringt die Eleganz und Komplexität alter Rebstöcke zum Ausdruck. International ist der Geremia, ein SuperTuscan gekeltert aus Merlot und Cabernet Sauvignon. Trotz allem bringt er die Vielfalt des Terroirs von Monti in Chianti wundervoll zum Ausdruck. Nicht zu vergessen: der fruchtig frische Rosato, Begleiter durch laue Sommertage und -nächte. Aushängeschild von Rocca di Montegrossi ist allerdings der köstliche Vin Santo, in einer herausragenden Qualität, wie man sie nur selten findet. Kein Wunder, erstreckt sich der Produktionsprozess dieser Kostbarkeit über mehr als sechs Jahre.
